Adele’s “Live at the Royal Albert Hall” CD/Concert DVD was released today in perfect time to be wrapped with a holiday bow.  The grammy award winning singer songwriter has had an amazing year to say the least and doesn’t disappoint in her live performance at legendary Albert Hall.  Her chart topping, heart-wrenching “Someone Like You” is one of my favorites from her album 21.  The live version is thebombdotcom.

I drink lots of water before running and working out but I s-o-o look forward to the end of each session because  I know once I’m back at home I will be mixing up a healthy but tasty replenishing treat.  Though I change up my workout regimen often, Tuesdays are typically a combo of cardio and resistance training.  I definitely got it in today: two and a half miles, an hour spin class and quad/hamstring focused  weight lifting.

Sweet Potato Pie is one Thanksgiving leftover that is rarely  ever left at my house.  Still craving a slice and curious as to whether or not I could replicate the flavor in the form of a nutritious smoothie,  I got to blending.  It was Mmm Mmm good!  So here’s my rendition of Sweet Potato Pie…the Smoothie remix.:)

Sweet Potato Pie Smoothie

Total Time: 5 minutes

Size: 1 serving

1 small sweet potato baked and refrigerated overnight
1 cup almond milk
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder* (optional)
1 tbs honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp allspice
1-2 cups ice

Once you are ready to make smoothie, peel skin off potato

Add all ingredients to blender

Blend until smooth

DESIGNER'S NOTES: You can substitute skim or whole milk if you prefer. Remember to bake and chill your sweet potato before you plan to make. To save time you could microwave the sweet potato instead.
