NFL Matchup: Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins

During the NFL regular season the weekly MATCHUP  feature allows me to exhibit my “die hard” Dallas Cowboys spirit–and win or lose great sportsmanship–by showcasing something tasty from our weekly opponents homefield.  Fashion, Football, and Food.  Now that’s my kinda matchup!

FASHION MATCHUP:

Dallas Cowboys Apron, Washington Redskins Apron: Williams-Sonoma’s new offering is just in time for the holidays.  All NFL teams are available. What a fantastic gift for the football foodies in your life.

If you’ve ever inquired about a great burger joint while visiting the Big Apple, chances are Danny Meyer’s Shake Shake was highly recommended.  In-N-Out is still my undisputed numero uno restaurant burger but in track and field speak, the Shack burger is only about one tenth of a second behind.  At first glance there appears to be nothing extra special about the Shack Burger–and you might even ask yourself “where’s the beef?” since the patties are relatively thin–but trust me the succulent flavor is all in the fresh and tasty details.  First there’s the well seasoned meat which is ground from several cuts of beef and topped with American cheese.   Next you have the always picture perfect ripe plum tomatoes, crisp green leaf lettuce, sweet onions (at your request) and dill pickle strategically propped between a pillow soft, buttery, toasted bun.  Last but certainly not least is the one ingredient that makes a Shack Burger encounter an unforgettable experience-the infamous mayo based “secret” Shack Sauce.  With or without sauce, the Shack Burger is oh so good!  After one bite your mind begins to grasp why there’s always a theme park attraction like line at all of their outpost.  Yours truly patiently stands in the Miami Beach line (cough) at least once a week.

Our nation’s capital  has a couple of Shake Shack locations so it was the perfect excuse  for me to feature the Fake Shack Burger recipe for today’s matchup.  J. Kenji Lopez-Alt, the executive recipe editor at Serious Eats deconstructed the original recipe “down to the T” in tomatoes and I make these burgers all the time when visiting with friends and fam in cities who are not blessed with a Shake Shack.  So just how good is the Fake Shack Burger recipe?  It impressively rivals the real thing!  In-N-Out Burger vs. Shack Burger, LaTonya’s Fake Shack Burger vs. Shake Shack Burger, Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins.  I love GREAT rivalries. Especially when my team WINS. Winning tastes GREAT!:)

  1. Divisional games are never easy, but that was one ugly performance by the Boys defense.

I’m glad that you think In-n-Out burgers are numero uno for restaurant burgers. We can still be friends now. 😉
